Roles & Responsibilities - Curriculum Specialist
- The Curriculum Specialist is a team player in English Primary and Secondary curriculum team who plans, develops, reviews and writes quality curriculum, including lesson materials and teacher guides, all the while ensuring that WRITERS AT WORK maintains a competitive edge in providing premium Primary and Secondary English and Writing courses in the academic enrichment business arena.
- The Curriculum Specialist will work under the supervision of the Primary and Secondary Curriculum Directors. You will be developing lesson materials for any grade levels within the core curriculum (PSLE and O Level). This position is fully onsite, hence staff will have to report to office for work. Responsibilities also include developing, preparing, reviewing and revising materials for holiday programmes and any other curricula resources and educational content.
- The specialist can look forward to developing skills in learning how to craft engaging and meaningful learning experiences for WRITERS AT WORK’s students through planning, designing and writing lesson materials to help students achieve their learning outcomes. In working with the teaching team, you will learn how the lesson materials are used effectively in the classroom through professional teaching techniques and practices.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for the development and production of quality written materials for all enrichment programmes at WR!TERS@WORK that meet company needs and timelines and which adhere to the company’s curriculum quality assurance framework.
This includes:
• working within the overall curriculum design to ensure that learning outcomes for all the primary and secondary level(s) are strategically planned and well-articulated through appropriate learning and assessment activities;
• planning lessons collaboratively with Curriculum Directors, senior team members, and relevant departments to align with WRITERS AT WORK’s teaching and curriculum schedules for the academic year;
• researching, writing, revising, editing and preparing for print or online delivery, all lesson materials, including hands-on learning activities, for the assigned grade level(s), that align with WRITERS AT WORK’s teaching and learning model and all MOE requirements;
• supporting teacher enactment of the curriculum through the development of clear teacher reference notes and materials for each week’s lesson, working collaboratively with the teaching leadership team in documenting best practices for the classroom, and actively contributing to and participating in teacher trainings in the usage of any new or updated curriculum
• ensuring the quality of the curriculum through careful observance of quality assurance processes, which includes adhering to layout formats stipulated by WRITERS AT WORK, close editing for content accuracy and presentation, vetting and collating feedback from Curriculum Directors and teachers;
• conducting administrative and project management duties and obligations responsibly as part of overall curriculum development and management;
• researching and writing additional materials (such as blog posts, newsletters and e-resources) based on the company’s needs
Remuneration Package
- Full time Curriculum Specialist – $2,500.00 – $3,300.00 per month
Qualifications
- A good university degree from a reputable college; related fields of English, Law, Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and Communications is a plus
- Excellent academic track record, particularly in English, General Paper (GP), and/or English Literature at ‘O’ and/or ‘A’ levels
- Good working knowledge of the current Singapore MOE education syllabus (PSLE and O-Level), and education approaches used in Singapore schools
- Experience in teaching Primary and Secondary school levels will be an added advantage.
- Qualifications in editorial work and/or English teaching is an added bonus
- Ability to adhere to tight deadlines and possess strong organizational skills
- A self-starter, open to feedback and willing to take on new challenges
- Meticulous with an eye for detail, strong analytical skills
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and adept in learning new educational tools and software where necessary.

Job Commitment
- Able to commit 1-2 years
- WORKING HOURS: 5 weekdays (10.20am – 7.20pm)
Training & Career Advancement
Intensive In-house training will be provided. Staff will be sent to courses relevant to their job scope from time to time.
