WRITERS AT WORK Model Composition Showcase : Secondary 4
‘YOLO’ is an acronym that means you only live once. The aphorism, ‘you only live once’ is a sentiment that has been around since the 1800s, and originally it was used as an admonishment to live a righteous life. Today, there are youths who use ‘YOLO’ to advocate
living life to the fullest and focusing on the present – enjoying life, or even indulge in risky activities. The question is how many young people really practise YOLO? While there are youths out there who embrace the present with the YOLO attitude, I believe the intensity of challenges of the future gives young people legitimate reasons for devoting extended periods of rumination rather than focusing on enjoying the present.
