Everyone, listen up!
We are pleased to announce that we have a new tagline: W@W Delivers Results!
With this new tagline, W@W demonstrates an enduring commitment to do our best for the students under our care. Our rejuvenated tagline allows teachers and staff to be reminded of our impact on the students we teach. To deliver results, W@W must ensure a standardised quality in all aspects of our operations. W@W is continually reviewing our processes and keeping up with the latest syllabi to make them more effective in helping students learn how to write essays and master the English language.
In this article, we will be breaking down the new tagline and what “results” mean:
1. W@W is responsible for a child’s learning journey and the mastery of English.
2. Every learning milestone matters, both academically and in terms of behaviour.
3. W@W’s ambition is to achieve quality results in large quantities.
1. W@W is Responsible for Each Child’s Learning Journey
When a child comes to W@W to learn how to write, they will grow with their teachers and with their friends in the W@W classroom over time. As learning a language is a journey, there will inevitably be ups and downs along the ride. The teachers at W@W are responsible for each and every child’s learning journey and must work together with the parents to ensure that the child is able to cope with the work given at school, and also grow as a person. At W@W, teachers are trained to give good feedback to parents which does not only include what the child’s strengths and weaknesses are, but also solutions to better or change their behaviour when at home. Students may need additional guidance from their parents to change their studying methods when at home, and W@W teachers can recommend apt solutions to the parents to help them.
Giving concrete solutions is highly important so that the parents can implement actions at home which will allow the child to see progress at the end of the year. This hands-on involvement in a child’s learning allows parents to work together with W@W teachers, who can help reinforce certain behaviours in class to ensure the child fosters good studying and classroom habits. Parents should be aware of and understand the child’s progress to better support them at home.
2. Every Learning Milestone Matters
As the education system in Singapore is highly competitive, W@W wants to make a difference in our students’ learning by continuously delivering results. There are two aspects of results: quantitative and qualitative. The curriculum at W@W is results-oriented – our teachers help students achieve quantitative, measurable goals such as better grades, higher word count, and shorter time taken to write compositions. However, qualitative results like character growth and changes in behaviour are also extremely important – after all, character is the foundation for everything we do. With good character, students can do anything they put their mind to.
Teachers at W@W regularly assist students with school assignments and will check in with them about their progress. Students can approach their teachers especially with their compositions and Weighted Assessments at school for guidance. When students receive rubrics from school where their school teachers put them in a band or denote the child’s progress using smiley faces, our teachers at W@W (who have been spending time with your child during their lessons) will help parents interpret their child’s progress and explain these rubrics to them. At times, students’ behaviour with a teacher in a classroom will be vastly different when compared to their behaviour at home, and parents may not be aware of certain behaviours their child has. As such, it is the onus of W@W teachers to ensure parents can keep up with their child’s progress.
Furthermore, parents can monitor their child’s progress through the in-house tests and progress reports sent to them. Before a school exam, parents can help their children revise if they have been able to keep tabs on their progress throughout the term. Progress is monitored through the benchmarks which have been set against the child’s previous results.
3. W@W’s Ambition is to Achieve Quality Results in Large Quantities
Have you ever heard the saying, “It is not about the quantity, but the quality that counts”? At W@W, we believe that it is neither about just the quantity, or the quality. We strive for both quantity and quality, and value both equally! The teachers at W@W are trained to identify potential in a child – every child is capable of doing well and cultivating good habits which will not only serve them well at school, but also in life. As such, it is important for teachers and parents to work hand in hand to identify and maximise a child’s potential by shaping his or her behaviours in the classroom, all while learning how to write and mastering the English language.
Attain Stellar Results With W@W!
English is a compulsory subject which all students must undertake. However, mastering the English language is not something which happens overnight – it takes consistent practice and effort to learn the nuances of the language. Students must read more and practice writing to gradually improve. Cramming for a language subject nearer to the exams is an impossible feat. After all, Rome was not built in a day! Attaining such a skill will have positive implications for not only your child’s education in school, but also employment prospects in future.
At WRITERS@WORK, we are committed to providing the smoothest learning experience for your child sitting for their English exams. With our carefully curated methods of teaching your child how to write well, your child will learn how to present their thoughts and arguments in a coherent and concise manner.
